Beliefs

How to Know Heaven will be your home.

God loves you. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The Bible teaches that regardless of your background, age, race or any other factor, God loves you and desires a genuine relationship with you.

Everyone is a sinner. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” No one is perfect; we have all broken God’s commandments. This is called sin, and it separates us from God.

Sin has a price that must be paid. Romans 6:23 tells us, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The “wage” or payment for our sin is death, which, according to the Bible, is eternal separation from God in a place called Hell.

Jesus Christ died to pay the price for your sin. Romans 5:8 explains, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” If we choose to accept Christ, we do not have to pay the price of death and Hell for our sins because Jesus paid for our sins when He died on the cross and rose again three days later! He took our place in death.

Pray and ask Jesus Christ to be your Saviour and claim the promise of eternal life. In Romans 10:13 the Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” That is a promise directly from God that if you will pray to Him, confess that you are a sinner, ask Him to forgive your sins, and accept Him as your Saviour, He promises to save you and give you the free gift of eternal life.

If you prayed that prayer today or if you would like more information please contact us. It is our greatest joy to rejoice with those who have just accepted Christ!

Doctrinal Statement

The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the verbal plenary inspired Word of God. Verbal inspiration indicates that the very words of Scripture were all inspired (2 Timothy 3:16; Jeremiah 26:2). Plenary inspiration indicates that the words of Scripture were all equally inspired (Matthew 5:18; Matthew 24:35). The Bible is infallible and inerrant as the divinely communicated revelation of God (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21), as found within the 66 books from Genesis to Revelation. We believe that God not only inspired every word, but that He has preserved them through the ages. We believe in the literal interpretation of the Scriptures in their grammatical and historical context. Therefore, at Solid Rock Baptist Church we have chosen to exclusively use the King James Version translation from the pulpit and in all capacities of the teaching ministry. (Psalm 12:6–7; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:19-21)

God

We believe that there is one living and true God; who is eternal, self-existent, infinite, and immutable. He is the Creator and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth. God is inexpressibly glorious in His holiness and worthy of all our  honor, praise and worship. We believe in one God; who has one nature, one essence, and is one substance; yet He manifests Himself in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each bearing equal in divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Mark 12:30; I Timothy 1:17; 1 John 4:4; Revelation 4:11)

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ to be eternally God, and He possesses all the attributes of Deity. He is the one and only Saviour of mankind. He existed eternally with the Father, and at the time of his incarnation. He never abandoned nor did He change the attributes of His deity. He became a man through the miracle of His divine conception and virgin birth.  He lived a sinless, impeccable life, died a substitutionary death for all men; was buried and arose from the grave physically the third day. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, came to reveal God, to redeem men, and to rule over God’s kingdom. He is the substitutionary sacrifice that met the just demands of God for the forgiveness of sin. It was activated by His death through the shedding of His blood on the cross and was accepted by God upon His resurrection. We believe He ascended into Heaven after His resurrection to be seated at the right hand of the Father and is now waiting for the time of receiving His church at the rapture, which is followed by His return seven years later to earth to rule and reign as King for 1,000 years. (Psalm 2:7-9; Isaiah 7:14, 9:6; Micah 5:2; Matthew 1:25; Luke 1:26-35; John 1; Romans 3:19-25; Romans 5:6-15; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Timothy 3:16; Titus 2:10-15; Hebrews 7:26, 9:24-28; Revelation 20:1-6)

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit of God is a person who has personality and all the attributes of Deity. He  convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and, that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing were given as temporary means of validating the Apostles ministry, until the completion of God’s written revelation. We believe the Holy Spirit has always been involved in the affairs of mankind; however, we believe He has a special ministry that began at Pentecost and will continue until the rapture. (Genesis 1:2; John 3:5-6; John 14:16; John 16:8-11; Acts 1:5; Acts 11:15; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; I Corinthians 13-14; II Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 1:13-14)

Sin and Salvation

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and, that all men are sinners by birth and by choice, and themselves, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition reforming himself or ceasing from his sin by his own power. We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins, and, that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again according to the Scriptures. We believe the only hope of deliverance for man is a total change of mind concerning his sinful condition and inability to change it, and a turning to Jesus Christ alone as their Saviour.   (Genesis; 3:1-6, 24; Ezekiel 18:19-20; John 3; Acts 4:12; Acts 16:31; Romans 1:18, 20, 32; Romans 3:10-19; Romans 5:12; Galatians 3:22; Ephesians 1:7;2:8-9; Titus 3:5-6; 1 Peter 1:18-19)

The New Testament Church

We believe that the local church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ, is solely made up of born-again persons that have voluntarily united together for the purposes of worship, fellowship, service, and observance of the ordinances of baptism and communion.  We believe that the church began with the calling out of the twelve apostles by Jesus Christ and was empowered on the day of Pentecost. We believe in the autonomy of the local church free of any external authority or control. The local church is composed of members who have been saved and baptized according to the command of Christ. We believe all true believers will be taken up at the rapture, just prior to the tribulation. (Matthew 16:16-18; Acts 1:15; Acts 2:41-43; Acts 11:15; Acts 20:28; Romans 16:1; 1 Corinthians 15: 51-58; Ephesians 1:12-14; Ephesians 5:25-30; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Timothy 3:4-15)

The Last Days

We believe in the pre-tribulational rapture of the church saints. The rapture is the blessed hope of the believer and is an imminent event that will be followed by the seven-year tribulation, where God’s righteous judgments will then be poured out on an unbelieving world. We believe in the pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth and His literal rule of 1,000 years. Following this one-thousand-year reign is the Great White Throne judgment, at which time the bodies and souls of the unbelieving shall be re-united and cast into the Lake of Fire. God will then create a new Heaven and new earth. (Matthew 24:29-30; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18;    1 Thessalonians 5:1-9; II Thessalonians 2:1-12; I John 4:3; Revelation 19-22)

Creation

We believe in the Genesis account of creation, and that it is to be accepted literally, and not allegorically or figuratively; that God created the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods.  We reject evolution, the Gap Theory, the Day-Age Theory, and Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin; that man was created directly in God’s own image and after His own likeness and God’s established law was that all things should bring forth only “after their kind”.  (Genesis 1 & 2; Exodus 20:11; Nehemiah 9:6; Jeremiah 10:12; John 1:3; Acts 4:24; Acts 17:23-26; Colossians 1:16-17; Hebrews 11:3)

The Devil or Satan

We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin and the cause of the Fall of Man; the accuser of the saints, the author of all false religions, the chief power of the present apostasy, the lord of the anti-Christ, and the author of all the powers of darkness that he is the open and declared enemy of God and man; and that he shall be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire.  (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:14-17; Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 22:3-4; II Corinthians 11:13-15; Ephesians 2:2; I Thessalonians 3:5; II Thessalonians 2:8-11; II Peter 2:4; I John 3:8; I John 4:3; Revelation 12-13; Revelation 19-20)

Civil Government

We believe that God has ordained and created all authority consisting of three basic institutions: 1) the home, 2) the church, and 3) the state. Every person is subject to these authorities, but all (including the authorities themselves) are answerable to God and governed by His Word. God has given each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and balanced these responsibilities with the understanding that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other. The home, the church, and the state are equal and sovereign in their respective Biblically-assigned spheres of responsibility under God. (Romans 13:1-7; Ephesians 5:22-24; Hebrews 13:17; 1 Peter 2:13-14)

Human Sexuality

We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance. We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24; Romans 1: 26-29; Romans 7:2; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:9; 7:10; Ephesians 5:22-23; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4)
